Mononuceosis, strep?: Drooling extremely is a sign of swelling of tonsils, adenoids, and other lymphatic tissue of the throat. This suggests infection by a virus or bacteria. Our immune system, recruits many immune cells to come and do the fighting, causing the swelling. Infectious mononucleosis is likely to cause drooling with a rash. Streptococcal infection (scarlet fever) and adeno virus infection may do the same.
