Ask your surgeon...: I would limit your foods to softer more homogenous ones. I would avoid blowing through your nose and smoking. Perhaps even sucking though a straw should not be attempted. As soon as the areas are closed over i would think you are ready to go. However, i would seek good advice from the surgeon; he/she knows the particulars of your case.

Sinus communication : Your doctor should have given you sinus precautions to follow during the healing period. Afrin (oxymetazoline) is safe to use but only for 2 days otherwise you can get dependent on it. No nose blowing and open mouth sneezes if necessary. I place my pts on otc decongestants for a week as well. Antibiotics should be given to cover sinus bacteria. In order for the hole to heal you must be diligent with these things.
