Depends: On what the stone is made of and if one is passed, it is a good idea to have it analyzed. Commonest is calcium oxalate and the antidote is magfnesium. Try a warm bath with a handful of epsom salts thrown in and soak in it. The magnesium goes through the skin and enters the blood and it is harmless. Only works for calcium stones.

Preventive measures: Plenty of fluids (not caffeine or soda pop or carbonated beverages) helps prevent stones from forming. Analysis of passed stone can determine what dietary measures may help prevent further stones: e.g. Most common type is calcium oxalate; so avoid high oxalate foods like spinach & rhubarb. Magnesium citrate helps block oxalate. Other stones require differ preventive measures. Ask nephrologist.
