Chemical imbalance?: Chemical imbalance is very generic word used for various reasons like depression anxiety or any other psychiatric disorder. In that sense, yes it can cause memory issues but not memory loss. Worsening depression and anxiety can cause decrease in concentration, confusion and easy distractibility and forgetfulness. Night mares are a common anxiety phenomenon.
