Build up to it: Do not overtrain. Take it easy and follow a reasonable training schedule. Slowly build up both distance and speed. First distance, then speed. Take days off --important to rest -- well worth it. Stay hydrated, and learn how to drink while training. Do notgo out too fast in the race -- you will pay in the end. Race the way you trained. Good luck.
