Depends on symptoms: Psychotherapy including dbt (dialectical behavioral therapy) is the mainstay of treatment to address self-image, impulsive behaviors, mood instability, & problems in relating to others. Antidepressants may help anxiety & depression. Mood stabilizers & second-generation antipsychotics may help emotion regulation. Evaluation & monitoring by skilled prescriber is essential.

BPD: Main tx is dialectical behavior therapy. Medications are used to control & contain symptoms of mood dysregulation, anxiety, psychosis, etc.
