Possible: Polycystic kidney disease is caused by underlying genetic abnormalities. You should see a physician for a complete history and physical examination, followed by testing for polycystic kidney disease.

PKD Inheritance: Autosomal dominant PKD has a 50/50 chance of being inherited from an affected parent. In a family, risk does not matter if a brother is affected. Your chance of having PKD is still 50/50, whether he is affected or not. Have an ultrasound and blood tests of urea and creatinine.
