My child had a minor headache that cleared. does he have a concussion?

Probably not: Unless your child sustained a head injury, it is unlikely his headache represents a concussion (brain bruise).

Maybe maybe not: Headaches are common in concussion but other conditions as well. The obvious question would involve was there a trauma to the head, but this can also be due to muscle tension, allergies, etc. Concussions can have slightly different presentation in children - here is more info: http://cpancf.Com/headinjuryclassification.Asp.
