Sounds serious: Severe pain after cataract surgery is not common. An adverse effect to analgesics could cause those symptoms, but serious causes need to be considered. A headache could be due to high intraocular pressure or even an infection. It wouldn't seem that the shoulder pain is due to the surgery but could it be due to another cause like heart disease? Call your eye surgeon immediately.

Needs evaluation : Your description is atypical after elective surgery. Your mother needs to be evaluated asap since this could be something serious or life-threatening.
