What is a cluster headache?

Def: Comes in clusters meaning not present continuously with autonomic symptoms like unilateral pain lacrimation, rhinorrhoea etc.

Cluster headache: It may occur every day, about the same time, for days, then go away for weeks. It is a “cluster” of attacks. It lasts for hours. It occurs around or behind one eye. It is sharp, it is painful, and it is often associated with the shedding of tears from that eye, or nasal stuffiness on one side, drooping of the eyelid, and sometimes redness of the affected eye.

Cluster headache: is the most painful of all the primary headache disorders. Because of the intense pain, cluster patients often pace the floor or bang their heads during headache episodes. The pain of cluster headache is excruciating and it is not unusual for a patient to yell or cry. The headache is unilateral and is centered behind or around the eye with autonomic symptoms.
