Do you typically do a smear for eosinophils for a work up for allergic rhinitis? if so, which stain are you using? thanks, pat sweet, md

No: Very few allergists i know do this. .. Diagnosis generally made on clinical basis with skin prick testing ..Unless they are hospital based.... For one thing i don't have a microscope etc.

Not currently: During my fellowship we used a hansel stain for eosinophils on nasal secretions. I have not used this procedure in our office in over 25 years.
