UNLIKELY: Cerefolin-nac is a mix of biologically active folate (folic acid) and b-12, added to n-acetyl cysteine, which is substrate to glutathione, the major free radical scavenger of the brain. The end result, if it does help, will be subtle, and modest. Although some experience a mild headache or mild nausea, this medical food does not cause confusion, and other reasons should be sought, such as infection.

Unlikely: Cerefolin is more like a vitamin so it is unlikely to cause confusion. When one has dementia, confusion can come and go. That being said, if there is an increase in confusion shortly after taking it and this doesn't happen at other times and continues to happen with use perhaps there is something specific about the person and the formulation that doesn't agree.
