Don't Huff It: This phenomenon is known as "off gassing" and is the release of volatile organic compounds from the plastic manufacturing; it's the same thing that gives a new car its smell. Concentrating the fumes and inhaling them probably wouldn't be your finest idea, but it's unlikely to harm you if it's just a faint odor. It should fade with time.
