Altered formation: The presence of an extra chromosome in tissues causes an alteration or misreading of the information that codes organ formation. The defect is selectively more lethal to males prior to & early after birth. All have risk of major heart defects & other organ defects that make survival short. Some mosaics that have only a portion of tissues affected survive longer.
