May well be : Related to the severe cough. If this seems different than a typical upper respiratory illness for you, then evaluation would be a good idea.

Cough and stomach: When you cough, your intercostal muscles (muscles between your ribs) as well as your stomach muscle contract that can cause pain in the stomach area. Cough can be from various reasons including chest congestion, heartburn or post-nasal drip. If it's from reflux, it can cause burning in the stomach too. If the pain does not go away with management of the cough, i suggest you see a doctor.
