It depend: Genu valgum is a condition where the knees angle in and touch one another when the legs are straightened. It depend on the method use for that. There are the general complications with any surgery and the risk of the correction it self. Malunion, postoperative infections and problems with healing. Compartment syndrome , recurrence of the deformity, re some of the potential complications.

Dr. H is correct: However , another serious complication of surgical correction of genu valgum is nerve palsy of the common peroneal nerve. This nerve runs on the outside of the knee and can become stretched when the deformity is corrected. Damage to this nerve can lead to drop foot.
