Continuous EKG: A holter monitor is a term applied to a wearable ekg system that continuously records your heart beat for 24-48 hours, enabling doctors to spot abnormal beats, rhythms or heart rate trends. It is similar to an "event monitor" which is a worn device that records the current heart rhythm at the time of symptoms. Many current systems combine the functions of these two devices.
