A member asked:

What is the definition or description of: testosterone, free and total?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Testosterone is the 'male hormone' that in men is produced by the testes. Total testosterone is amount in blood stream attached to a protein (sex-hormone binding-protein-shbg) as well as 'free' in blood stream. Free testosterone is just the amount free in serum, not attached to the shbg.
