Repositioning bones: The most common orthopedic chest surgery involves correcting scoliosis or curvature of the spine. Other procedures involve repositioning ribs to make the chest larger and more symmetrical. Repair of pectus may be done by general surgeons or orthopedic surgeons. Children with neuromuscular problems may be particularly in need.
