See below: Different surgical and non invasive techniques used to remove stones. Surgical techniques are open surgery or minimally invasive techniques like ureteroscopy ( scope passed through ureter) or percutaneous nephrolithotomy ( small opening made over skin into pelvis of kidney). Non invasive technique involves lithotripsy.

Here is ...: Removing the symptom-causing or kidney-damaging stones is called extraction with or without lithotripsy with which the offending stone(s) are crushed with various high-tech machines such as ESWL, laser, ultrasound, EHL, etc. into pieces for easier passage or extraction through small opening in the back or through urethra, bladder, ureter, and to kidneys.
