Milder mania: Mania is a hyperarousal state, like having the motor on a dial turned up too high. A person in a manic state may have less need for sleep, racing thoughts, rapid speech, irritability or elevated mood - just to name a few symptoms. There is not always a clear distinction between hypomania which is a milder form and mania. Generally psychosis defines mania and mania creates more dysfunction.
