Arthropod: Or insect induced infection due to bite or sting which infects the brain causing perhaps a life threatening illness. In several areas of the country ticks are carried by deer, and these have a viral host which could cause lyme disease.. Rocky mountain spotted fever is another such infection.

Disease carrier: The human body is pretty well protected. We can block disease agents by protective defenses in the nose, mouth, lungs, skin, gut. However, certain agents can get injected into us by insects. Mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks are the more common carriers of disease agents that get injected. Once the agent gets into our blood stream it can go directly to the brain causing encephalitis.
