The swelling may or : May not be related to the pain. It could be that you're retaining fluid causing the swelling. Sometimes, if the swelling is bad enough, pressure of the swollen tissues on nerves can cause pain. Or, your pain could be something else. Remember that even folks were "normal" feet get pain after standing very long periods too. I'd see a podiatrist and get checked, and your internist about the swelling.

Probably mechanical: There is a very long list of conditions that might cause swollen painful feet. Often simple mechanical causes are to blame like improper shoes, body weight, body mechanics, etc. Changes in the structure of the foot can also cause pain and swelling with prolonged standing. Metabolic conditions, heart and kidney conditions can cause swelling which can lead to pain too.
