Not reliably: Most will clear the primary infection within 2 yrs. However, this family is well known for hibernating within the body and potentially reactivating at any time. Some may clear and never see reactivation, some will shed virus (spread it) intermittently indefinately. The rare but associated problems like rectal, oral & cervical cancer could show up decades after the primary infection.
