A member asked:

Can u take imodium (loperamide) while breast feeding ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes for a short time: Some small amounts of loperamide (imodium) may appear in breast milk. This is unlikely to adversely affect the baby particularly if used for a short time( at most 2 days).Keep to max dose of 4 tablets in 24 hrs (generally adult max is 8 tabs/24hrs). Drowsiness, constipation can occur.Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. See your doctor if diarrhea persist for more than 2 days. Take care.
