A member asked:

Is there any surgery involved with the swollen lump underneath my jaw due to affected teeth?

Potentially yes: If it's a painful swelling that appeared rather quickly, then it's likely an infection that may require root canal, dental extraction or drainage. If it's a painless lump, then it could be a growth that requires biopsy. Either way, swelling is not normal; your body is telling you something. Listen to your body and please do not wait see a physician or dentist.

Probably not: A lump under your jaw can be a sign of teeth abscess or infection. Do not delay in getting this diagnosed and then treated. An abscess under your bottom teeth can spread and at that point it can require surgery. This is probably completely avoidable, so take action now.

Jaw: First you should be seen by an oral surgeon to rule out osteomyelitis which is infection of jaw. Second, the tooth should come out and take antibiotics.
