Vit E Lacks Evidence: There is a paucity of evidence that vitamin E cream improves the appearance of scars. Silicone gel and sheets does have some scientific support to show decreased redness and improved scars. With an old scar, sometimes the best solution is scar revision with either dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, or minor surgery.
