Category C: The fda puts charcoal in pregnancy category c, which means that there is no evidence that it is harmful in humans, but no evidence that it is safe either. Don't take it (or any other medication) without checking with your obstetrician first.

Yes, but why?: Charcoal is not absorbed by your body and so should not cause problem for the pregnancy itself, but why you need to take charcoal? Did you ingest something--od on certain meds or chemical? Charcoal is often used to "bind up" other toxic chemicals and it is eliminated unchanged in the feces--it is not absorbed into your body. Consult doc. Good luck.
