Scraped skin: Swelling on an injured part of the body does not subside immediately - it will take hours and sometimes days. Cleanse the scraped area with soap and water very well, apply antibacterial ointment and continue applying cold compress (ice is too cold). If her elbow moves well without causing pain, there's nothing more to do than wait for healing. Monitor the skin closely for infection.

Pain?: You have to make sure it is just a bruise and nothing more, like a fracture. Make sure the joint is mobile and there is no sign of infection that can also cause swelling.
