Swollen forearm. just got out of hospital for other things but d-dimer was negative when admitted. no real pain just tightness. any ideas? worried.

Rule out...: I can't examine you, but my foremost concern is a compartment syndrome. Deep vein thrombi, for which we check with d-dimer, are very rare in the arm in the absence of grave underlying disease. Any bad pain or loss of pulse -- get seen right away.
