No: First of all, neither of these is "necessary" so that you feel that you must have one or the other. Alcohol is not needed for a healthy life. Red wine does have a chemical resveratrol which may be heart-healthy, and one glass per day for women is ok, but resveratrol is also found in organic red grape juice and is just as good. Exercise and healthy diet is even better.
