Look for carorid : Carotid plaque evaluation is key in stroke prevention and treatment .Your cholesterol being normal does not mean you don't have plaque .This will determine the artery intimal thickening and development of atherosclerosis .This is guide to the status of your vessels inthe circulatory system .I would do this non invasive test first and simple than c ct scan or angiography.

Carotid Disease: High blood pressure or cholesterol are only two of the many risk factors associated with blockages of the carotid artery. You may have other risk factors. The most common reason for a carotid ultrasound is that your physician heard something on listening to your neck that suggests a carotid blockage. You may also have had symptoms, such as mini stroke, which prompt evaluation of the carotid.
