Povodine iodine 5% reduces tinea on face?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe, but...: Povidone iodine kills germs, including bacteria and fungi (such as tinea). The over-the-counter anti-fungal creams work better for treating tinea on the face and body. Also, using iodine too much can lead to excessive absorption of iodine into the body (which would be bad), or lead to skin irritation where the iodine is repeatedly placed. A dermatologist can prescribe oral meds for scalp tinea.
