Care of very ill. : Critical care is a broad category for the care of the very ill. It encompasses a number of specialties, including cardiac critical care, medical critical care, neuro-critical care, surgical critical care and cardiovascular surgical critical care. Each specialty focuses those patients who may be at risk for life-threatening problems, or who require special equipment such as ventilatory support.
