Right Upper Abd Pain: If you are to experience pain from the liver (uncommon) then you would have constant, non-radiating pain, in the right upper abdomen. There are other common causes of right upper quadrant pain, such as pain from gallbladder problems.

Liver/gallbladder: Eat a diet low in fat. Fatty foods make your gallbladder contract. If you have gallstones, then they can get stuck in the biliary duct and cause pain. If it is really your liver causing pain, then avoid things that are metabolized by the liver - avoid alcohol and Acetaminophen for example. Weight loss can also help the liver. Milk thistle is an herb that is touted for liver function.

See your PCP or a gastroenterologist if pain persists. Is there a history of trauma to that area of the body?

What's causing pain?: The liver itself has no pain fibers, as true with brain--either can be sliced with a surgical tool and no pain. The capsule or linings of each organ has pain fibers. Unlikely to have 'liver pain' unless something is irritating the lining. So, find out what's causing the pain, and how to stop it will become clear. Try the following: stop-if ingesting-alcohol, coffee, hot/spicy foods, Aspirin drugs.

Can coffee give liver pain?

Shouldn't . . .: Coffee shouldn't affect your liver (unless you're mixing it w/irish whiskey or some other alcohol). If you're mixing a lot of cream into your coffee, the fat in the cream may be aggravating your gallbladder. Best way to figure out what's causing "liver pain" is to stop the coffee for a while & see how you feel. Then start it again & see if it comes back. Perhaps you have gastritis? Go see your doc.

What would liver pain feel like?

Pain under R ribs: People describe it variably, but discomfort underneath the rib margin on the right side of your stomach. Likely would hurt more if you pushed on it--similar to gallbladder pain location but more diffuse. Should see dr if concerned.
