Abdominal X-ray: Plain x-ray of the abdomen. The film can show the overall pattern of the intestines , stomach & liver. If there is a perforation (puncture) of the intestine or stomach, the x-ray is useful for showing "free air." if the intestine is obstructed(blocked) this may be seen as significant enlargement of the intestine due to air & stool which cannot pass
