It opens up airwys: When used in asthma it is one of the components of treatment that opens up the airways. It is usually used for rescue and is not a maintenance medication that treats the inflammation involved. It should never be used alone in the treatment of asthma. It is used in the treatment of copd.

Opens airways: A bronchodilator opens airways by loosening the smooth muscle surrounding the airways. There are short and long acting bronchodilators that work in asthma and copd.
