Sedimentation Rate: Is the rate at which red blood cells sediment in a period of 1 hour. It is non-specific measure of inflammation. It is performed by placing anticoagulated blood sample in an upright tube (westergren tube) then measuring the rate at which red blood cells fall (in mm per hour).
