BBT: Basal body temperature is the taking of the oral temperature first thing in the morning approximately at the same time before even getting out of bed to do anything. Around midcycle or so about 1 to 2 days after ovulation the temperature will rise approximately 0.8 - 1.0° above the baseline. This rise signifies potential ovulation. The actual ovulation usually occurred midway between the rise.
