A member asked:

How long a course of antibiotics does it take to heal staph folliculitis? widespread across pubis and crease of thighs, is itchy and a bit tender.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About 2 weeks: For most infections, antibiotics will clear it in about 2 weeks. However, if you are "colonized" with the staph bacteria, it is possible to keep re-infecting yourself in the same area. Ask your doctor about a culture taken from your nose (hey, it's where the staph lives!). You may need an antibiotic ointment to put inside your nose.
