A lot: Many medications can affect sleep architecture, either by altering the different amount of sleep stages such as rem or n3 (slow wave sleep) or by affecting our ability to get to sleep or stay asleep. The effects of medications are usually discovered on a sleep study or if there are symptoms. Examples can include anti-depressants, stimulants, steroids. Always talk to your doctor if concerned.
