Caffeine & Pregnancy: Studies are still ongoing, hence caution & moderation are important when pregnant. For women of child-bearing age, the recommended daily caffeine intake is no more than 300 mg. (which is roughly two 8 ounce cups of coffee).

Things to ponder: An adult can easily metabolize the caffeine, yet it provides no nutritional benefit to the fetus. It triggers no birth defects we know of, but does rev up the fetal heart as a stimulant. At birth, when the cord is clamped, your baby looses your metabolic support and can take two weeks to metabolize the caffeine you do in a few hours. It is definitely not baby friendly. Get off before delivery.
