No: Gallstones generally are not related to hypercalcemia though some gallstones are made of calcium. Most gallstones are asymptomatic. Symptoms from gallstones generally includes right upper abdominal crampy pain which may radiate to the upper back or shoulders. Elevated calcium can be a symptom of hyperparathyroidism and should be further evaluated.

Calcium andgallstone: Elevated calcium has been related to calcium stones in many body parts (salivary glands, kidneys, and gallbladder’s) but elevated calcium does not typically cause gallstones. You may want to consult with a general surgeon to see if a gallbladder surgery is indicated. You should also have your elevated calcium complete evaluated to rule in or out hyperparathyroidism.
