Yes: More and more western doctors are collaborating with other health professions including chinese medical doctors. Ask your chinese practitioner if they have any recommendations on western doctors that are open or ask your western doctor if they are willing to collaborate. You can try looking into academic medical centers that have integrative medicine or find a holistic or integrative M.D.

Collaboration: Yes, providers can collaborate. It depends on the two practitioners involved. This can work especially well if the Chinese medicine doc works w/movement and energetic treatments and teachings such as qigong and massage. One he/she begins using herbs the Western doc can feel out of the loop and may not be able to collaborate as well. Peace and good health.

Communication!: You need to find two practitioners who are willing to try to communicate. I've had some chinese medical doctors who have absolutely refused to talk to me, and others who are happy to collaborate on patients. Even though western and chinese doctors look at the body in different ways (biochemistry versus chi, meridians...), it does not mean they cannot talk and collaborate. Pejman katiraei.
