Laser vs. cautery: Cautery of facial spider veins is as safe as laser but definitely hurts more.

Both are safe: Both laser and cautery work well to treat facial telangiectasias. When a large area of the face needs treatment, a laser is often easier and faster to do. When there are localized areas that need treatment, cautery is often more effective and is less likely to cause loss of pigment in the skin. It is helpful to use a topical numbing cream , so both treatments are more comfortable.

Laser/Cautery : Both laser and cautery can work on facial veins and both may require several treatments. I treat larger facial veins with sclerotherapy and fine veins with radiofrequency. Sometimes I use a combination of both. These procedures are well tolerated by using just topical anesthesia.
