Failure of the heart: Failure of the heart muscles to pump blood effectively from the chambers to the body/lungs leading to back up of blood . Caused by heart attacks, (coronary artery disease) long standing hypertension/diabetes, chemotherapy, congenital heart defects, intractable rhythm problems. Life expectancy depends on underlying cause.
