Letting go of shame: All humans who care about connection to others, experience shame from time to time. This means most of us know what it's like to feel we're not worthy of love or belonging (shame), even if we don't want to admit it. What makes it "toxic" is that when we keep it secret, the more it controls our lives. Sharing our "shame" stories with trusted others, dissipates it & frees us from need to be perfect.

Shame: Shame is just about the darkest emotion people can face. It presupposes that there's an audience to our alleged wrongdoings, and that devastating judgement will be passed. Something to remember is that everyone has something they feel ashamed about; it's inescapable. Find a reputable psychotherapist to speak with. Getting it off one's chest in a safe, nonjudgmental place is the first step.
