Floating Helps: Pain after sitting in a wheelchair frequently is quite common. First try to adequately cushion the seat and sides. Special gel cushions exist for this purpose. Next, try spending more time out of the wheelchair on a sofa, recliner, air mattress or if possible in a pool setting. Aqua therapy is immensely beneficial to those confined to a wheelchair. It's good for the body and the spirit.

Change positions: If you are having pain from sitting too much in the wheelchair, it could be that the wheelchair does not give you proper support or that the cushion you are using is not supportive enough. Like all of us however, sometimes you just need to get out of the chair for a while and lie down if possible. Sometimes if people do this in the middle of the day, they can then catch a second wind.
