A member asked:

Should hunters be worried about avian flu? do i have a greater chance of catching avian flu as a hunter? is there any danger in handling or eating wild fowl?

Dr. John Rohm answered

In a word, no! Hunting wild fowl is not the problem, it is unsanitary mass processing with constant exposure to blood and parts with contamination of small open wounds that are unseen and unappreciated by human processors that occur without proper protective gear.
