Exercise: A bike stress test accomplishes the same result as a treadmill exercise test. Both cause you to exercise. This increases the workload on your heart. If there are blockages that limit the flow of blood to the heart muscle then ischemia is produced. This can be detected by the recording equipment and using an echocardiogram (ultrasound) or nuclear imaging improves the tests diagnostiv accuracy.

Measure ECG and O2: Usually during a bike stress test, the doctors see if there are changes in your ECG (or ekg) or your echocardiogram as you exercise on a stationary bicycle. Sometimes, they can also measure how much oxygen your body is able to take in and provide to your body at rest and during maximum exercise (max o2 consumption).
